St Francis Electric partnered with OC Jones & Sons Inc. to complete this port project. Our Scope of work consisted of removing existing electrical utilities, Installing new light fixtures and providing installation and power to wheeled reefer racks.
TRAPAC BACKLANDS PORT OF OAKLAND

This project consisted of upgrading the existing mainline metering system at the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge toll plaza. The upgraded system was then integrated into the Caltrans Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) that resides at the Caltrans Traffic Management Center (TMC). Additional Advanced Warning VMS signs were installed to alert drivers to any information that Caltrans wished to relay, and all metering lights were upgraded for improved visibility.

General contractor- Kiewit Infrastructure contracted St Francis Electric as an electrical subcontractor to supply and install all lighting in the Flood Control Outlet (FCO) spillway chute of the Oroville Dam.

Under the CMGC, Kiewit Infrastructure, St. Francis Electric, and other contractors worked with Caltrans to create a managed lane system on Highway 101, spanning 16 miles from Redwood City to South San Francisco. St. Francis Electric handled key components, including Lighting, Fiber Optic Cabling, Electronic Toll Systems, Ramp Metering, Traffic Monitoring Stations, and Weigh-in-Motion systems. Through effective collaboration and an exceptional crew, the project was completed ahead of schedule, allowing for earlier toll revenue collection and improving commutes for Bay Area drivers.

SOCIAL MEDIA SPOTLIGHTS

St. Francis Electric partnered with the City of Palm Springs to complete critical safety upgrades at Palm Springs International Airport. The project improved pedestrian safety with the installation of seven Pelco poles, synchronized Carmanah solar-powered Rapid Flashing Beacons, pedestrian buttons, and safety lights. Outdated infrastructure was removed, and traffic flow was managed effectively through high-speed intersections. Utilizing advanced Bluetooth technology, these upgrades enhanced driver yield rates and ensured pedestrian safety in all weather conditions.

The 2024 Road Rehabilitation project in Chico, CA, transformed roadways to improve safety, accessibility, and technology readiness. It included road reconstruction, ADA-compliant sidewalks, and a new traffic signal at Rio Lindo Avenue and Esplanade. Crews installed nearly 10,000 feet of fiber optic conduit and 50 underground vaults for high-speed internet. Funded by local and state resources, the 85-day project overcame challenges like rocky terrain, delivering safer streets and a more connected, tech-ready community.

St. Francis Electric completed mobilization, traffic control, water pollution control, demolition, utility potholing, and the installation of fiber optic conduit and cable. The team overcame challenges, including unidentified old water lines, by assisting the water department in updating as-built records. Cameras for video detection were installed at intersections, and CCTV inspections ensured no utilities were damaged. Using directional drilling and environmentally sensitive techniques, the project enhanced traffic management with advanced fiber-based signal communication.

St. Francis Electric installed a new traffic signal and interconnect system at El Camino Avenue and Kent Drive to support a new school opening. Despite tight deadlines and utility challenges, the team completed the project in just 26 working days through advanced planning and coordination with SMUD. The signal was activated on January 6, 2025, ensuring safe traffic flow for the school’s opening the next day.

St. Francis Electric completed signage and lighting upgrades at Reid Hillview Airport, enhancing visibility and safety for air traffic with energy-efficient lighting and improved taxiway markings. The team worked closely with subcontractors to maintain the schedule and implemented SWPPP measures to protect local wildlife. These upgrades reflect a commitment to innovation and safety, delivering valuable improvements for the client and the San Jose community.

The South Lake Tahoe Safety Project made remarkable strides! St. Francis upgraded pedestrian lighting and crosswalks along Lake Tahoe Blvd., installed over 200 streetlights, a new traffic signal, and four pedestrian hybrid beacons across 5 miles. Crews laid 47,000 feet of underground conduit to enhance communication systems. Despite challenges like heavy tourist traffic and protecting Tahoe’s environment (with some bear encounters) the project improved safety and earned gratitude from the community.
